Project Description
Grzegorz Maslowski received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Rzeszow University of Technology, Rzeszow, Poland, and the PhD degree from the University of Mining and Metallurgy, Krakow, Poland, in 1991 and 1999, respectively. Since 1991, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rzeszow University of Technology, and since 2011 he is an Associate Professor. He was Visiting Researcher at the University of Bologna and at the University of Florida.
His main areas of interest are lightning physics and lightning protection. At the Rzeszów University of Technology he served as the Dean (2012-2016) of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and then the Deputy Rector (2016-2020) for Education. He is currently the head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Fundamentals, and within this department, he heads the Lightning Research Group which conducts scientific activity in the field of lightning modeling and testing carried out in the Lightning Observatory, the Avionics Lightning Protection Laboratory, and the High Voltage Laboratory. He is the author or coauthor of over 100 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
Dr. Maslowski served as the Chairman of the Polish Committee on Lightning Protection (PCLP) at the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (SEP) from 2012 to 2018, the Chairman of the Polish Section IEEE EMC-027 from 2014 to 2018, and the Chairman of the 34th International Conference on Lightning Protection (ICLP’2018) in Rzeszow, Poland. He was also involved in the work of the international standardization committees related to the lightning protection, and the scientific committees and boards of reviewers of several international conferences. He was also a member of the Working Group 2 of the European COST Action P18: The Physics of Lightning Flash and Its Effects from 2005 to 2009.
